Frequently Asked Questions – PHOTOS TO DVD

Are you looking for a unique gift for that person or couple who has everything?

Do you dream of creating an entertaining and memorable video for a special event?

Would you like to create a meaningful and touching video of a loved one for a memorial service or wake?

Here are some of the frequently asked questions regarding the process:

  • Q.  How many photos should I include in a DVD video for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration?
  • A.  The average celebration video runs between 15 and 20 minutes.  Any longer than 20 minutes and the attendees begin to get restless and tend to be distracted by people and the location.  The optimal viewing speed is 10 photos per minute; therefore, for a video of 15 minutes you’ll need to gather 150 photos.  For a video of 20 minutes in length, you’ll need 200 photos, and so on.
  • Q.  What happens to the photos when I give them to Connect Pros Inc?
  • A.  Special care is taken to gently handle and scan each photo into a format usable in the video production.  All original photos are returned to you in the same condition you gave them to us.
  • Q.  What do I need to do once I’ve collected the photos I want to include in the video?
  • A.  You should sort the photos into groups or piles in either a chronological order or some themed order.  Many videos we’ve created tell a story of a person or couple over the years.  The videos start with photos of the person as a child, then growing up, where they lived, their wedding, vacation photos, hobbies and interests, their car or boat, etc.  Remember you want to tell a story with pictures.  Then number the photos on the back (please use light pencil) and place into envelopes by decade, event, family member, etc.—whichever way you want to tell the video story.  Keep in mind that each “folder” or chapter should be approximately the same length to make the end product visually pleasing.  For example, it may look choppy if the section labeled “1960’s” only has 4 photos and the sections labeled “1970’s” through “1990’s” each have 20 photos.  We’d recommend you regroup the chapters.  Instead of grouping them by decade, try “The Early Years” and perhaps “Life in Michigan” to reflect the person’s/family's growth and movement.
  • Q.    Should I remove photos from albums and picture frames?
  • A.  Yes.

  • Q.    What size photos work best?
  • A.  Photos should be no smaller than the size of a standard business card (2” x 3 ½”).  We will scan any wallet-size, 3x5”, 4x6”, 5x7”, 8x10”, 11x14” photo.  Photos any smaller than 2x3 ½” do not provide high quality scanned images and would appear fuzzy in the video.

  • Q.  Can I give you Photo CDs or digital photo medium?

  • A. Yes.
  • Q.   Can I include titles or captions in the video?

  • A.  Yes.  Connect Pros Inc. will meet with you for a consultation to review the necessary details to create a video that will be remembered for years to come.  We’ll suggest titles for each chapter of the video to enhance the finished product.
  • Q.   How long will the production process take?

  • A.  The average order is completed within 7 to 10 days.  Please contact us in advance of your scheduled event or deadline to ensure all questions can be addressed and delivery/pick-up completed well in advance of the due date.
  • Q.    Do I need to meet with Connect Pros Inc. in person to complete the order?
  • A.  No.  We have created video products for customers handling the whole process via phone and mail.  Additional time will be required for Priority U.S. Postal Service mail or courier delivery of photos and the finished product.

  • Q.    Can I include a photo and title on the DVD and case?
  • A.  Yes.  We will professionally decorate the disc and case with your choice of photo to further enhance the value of this special gift.

Connect Pros Inc. looks forward to exceeding your expectations.
